The Oklahoma Bass Federation Top 8 club championship is the last OK TBF event of the year it was held on Lake Eufaula this past month. The two-day event on September 24th – 25th is a joint event that brings all of Oklahoma’s TBF member clubs out for a weekend of competitive rivalries with each club’s top anglers battling for the honor of top club of the year. The winning club holds The Don Linder Cup for the year and bragging rights that comes with the title. The buddy tournament is also a great part of this final year ender all rolled in to 1 big weekend of fishing and fun.
With lower than normal water conditions and the fact that the lake had just turned over for the fall made the fishing conditions tougher than usual. These conditions didn’t slow down the Oklahoma anglers.
Big fish day 1 and overall big fish for the weekend weighed in at a whopping 9.31 pounds caught by Dan West partnered with Jack Garrett representing the Ada Bassmasters. Day 1 runner up big fish went to Ponca City Bassmasters Dan Hart and partner Justin Jenkins with a 5.37 pounder.
His and Hers Bass Club dominated the big fish pot on day 2. Big fish was 5.93 pounds caught by Mike Newton and partner Sally Newton with the His & hers Bass Club Day 2 runner up big fish also representing His and Hers was Bruce and Renee Carson weighed in a 4.60-pound lunker. congratulations to all of the big fish winners…
The buddy tournament held with the top 8 championship has turned into a battle within the states clubs and their top teams. The first place team taking the big W in the buddy tournament this year was Cody Hunt and Mark Engleking from the PC Hookers club their 2 day weight averaging just over 13 pounds a day was good for 27. 11 pounds total.
Second place team representing the Ponca City Bassmasters went to Jody & Don Linder this year. The team also had 2 great days on the water with a 5 fish limit both days weighing in for a two day total of 25.04 pounds.
Third place team holding the line for ADA Bassmasters not only placing in the buddy tournament but also carrying weights for the ADA Bassmasters Top 8 championship was Jack Garrett and Dan West having a two-day weight of 24.03
Top honors for the OK TBF Top 8 Championship go to ADA Bassmasters total team weight was 80.01 pounds ADA Bassmasters holds the Don Linder Cup for the year so congratulations to the ADA Bassmasters.
